Stainer very likely used an internal mould to attach the sides in such a way as to have the neck block made of two wedge-shaped parts , to which the sides were glued.
As shown in the photos, the neck that I built has two wedge-section grooves in the part that will form the neck block. Here the two upper half-blocks are inserted then pushed against the neck, and subsequently the sides permanently fixed, by means of two wedges.
