THE NECK ( "Colichon" style)
This is the operation that took the most time to understand, and I am
not sure of the right solutions yet.
As we read before, some viols the neck block is just an extension of the
neck inside the instrument; some old instruments still retain this "vestige"
of the original neck, useful to reconstruct form and dimensions.
Starting from these documents, and from the examination of some originals,
I have speculated the following sequence of procedures:
The neck heel is shaped to its definitive dimensions, with particular
care of the "end block"
