8) The ribs are glued at the corners, with the aid of a hot iron to
give the hide glue an immediate grip; reinforcing linen strips are
glued too. Some of the tools shown in plate XII can be clearly used for
this purpose; I have used a tool, instead, which is part of modern
technology: a modeling electric purfling bender, which does not burn
the wood and keeps consistent temperature.
9) The top ribs are traced, using the false back, and trimmed.
