Gamba Family Violin family Restorings Atelier Baroquebows.net

This viol belongs to the Museum of Musical Instruments in Paris.
Now it has seven strings, but originally it was a six-string Division bass. Also the length of the neck has been increased.
The peghead and the neck heel have a wonderful carved decoration with flowers and some grotesque figures.
It is an excellent model of the English viol.
The top has been realized in five pieces of top quality spruce, heat-bent, glued and finally carved. On special request I can build your instrument following the same technique, used by the old English viol makers.
